I guess it'll be interesting to see how Brexit plays out and whether the stance of the Daily Mail will change. There's several significant issues for Brexiteers to be concerned about including:
- At some level we'll still trade with the EU and will need to comply with their rules but have no direct influence in making those rules;
- What if Brexit doesn't deliver the promised additional trade;
- If 'leavers' start taking a more hostile view on the additional problems/hastles with air travel, NHS, security, political issues, data, fishing, trade, financial services issues, etc.
If NHS waiting lists continue to increase, if the massive UK public deficit, which has ballooned from £800 billion to over £2 trillion following the Tory failed austerity programme, continues to balloon, if the social services continue to deteriorate, if our crumbling infrastructure continues to deteriorate, if our security continues to lessen, what will be the Brexiteers solution then?
The obvious solution to improve public services is to increase the money coming into the country through trade to help pay for better services. We have an open market on our doorstep of 400 million people which we could re-enter bringing huge benefits. The question then would be "is the Daily Mail able to admit it was wrong and back the campaign to rejoin the EU?".
